The Gold of Mauritius brand was founded by Frederic Bestel, whose family settled in Mauritius around 1800. Bestel selects and buys quality aged rums from several local producers, then blends them and lays them down in casks for further ageing. The result is a spirit that reflects the island's many faces and its rich cultural history, where European, African and Asian influences intertwine.
Gold of Mauritius is a no-age-statement rum blend that was laid down in used casks that previously held high-quality South African port wine. The resulting rum is balanced, smooth, silky and light, with notes of oak, malt and roasted nuts.
The gift set additionally includes two miniatures (2 x 0.05 l) of older Gold of Mauritius rums – Solera 5 and Solera 8.
